The Tortoise and The Hare

Some of you may be wondering why I’ve not posted here for a while. A few have been in touch to ask just that. Well, let me remind you of the story of the Tortoise and the Hare.

In that story there is a race. The Hare takes off really quickly, builds up a lead in front of the tortoise. The hare gets cocky and decides to take a rest, falling asleep. Meanwhile the slow and steady tortoise plods on at his own rate, passing the sleeping hare to win the race.

Digging into events of ‘High Strangeness’ can be much the same. Intriguing things don’t happen every day. There isn’t a constant stream of new information to share on a daily, weekly or even monthly basis. So rather than writing posts here just for the sake of writing posts, I have not added anything to the site for a while.

Building The Map remains my priority now and this involves a lot of background reading. Much of this reading ends up coming to nothing; whether that is as result of a hoax or a logical explanation being determined. Some of that reading will generate more questions. Questions that must be answered which involves, yes you guessed it, more reading, travel, or interviewing people. All of this takes a huge amount of time.

So like the tortoise, I’ll keeping plodding away in the background. Doing my reading, asking my questions and contacting people. As and when I find something, I’ll add it to the map.

In the meantime I would like to recommend a site to you. The British Newspaper Archive. It is an excellent source for contemporaneous historical records of life as it happened. The archive has newspapers covering the whole of Britain dating back decades and in some cases, centuries.

Remember, be a tortoise, not a hare.
