It is something we see every single night, but take very little notice of, The Moon. Other than space missions, how often do we look at it. I mean really look at it?

I started taking photographs of the moon a little while ago when I got a new camera. It’s not the best camera for taking pictures of the moon but it was better than my old camera.
The detail in the picture below caught my eye. The front of the highlighted feature normally appears circular from my position on Earth. However, in this picture it appears as a flat straight frontage.
I’ve yet to come to any conclusion as to what could have caused the change. Could it be a large amount of rock dust formed there and caused the flat front?

So I was wondering if anyone else out there takes regular pictures of the moon? Do you have a telescope that is capable of taking photographs as well? (I’m saving up for one) Have you noticed anything strange on The Moon? If so, I’d be interested in hearing from you and seeing your photographs.
If you are outside the UK, I’d also be interested in the view of The Moon where you live. I’m intrigued to find out how the view changes depending upon where you are in the world.
